Feb. 2005 City Manager Position Opening

The City of Seldovia, Alaska, a First Class city on Kachemak Bay is soliciting applicants for the position of City Manager.

Candidates are sought who possess municipal management experience as a City Manager or City Administrator with an emphasis on basic city services and civil project management. The position requires management ability in police, fire, public works, utilities, harbor/docks, personnel relations, union relations, grant identification and writing, and finance.

Candidates should hold a B.A. degree in public or business administration or related field, or the equivalent in experience as well as strong oral and written communication skills. Relocation to within the City is required.

Salary range: $45,000-$55,000 D.O.Q.

Position Opening - Ferry Line Handler

Job Title: Ferry Terminal Line Handler

Job Type: On-Call, Part-Time

Department: Dock

Reports To: City Manager

Hourly Rate: $11.77

Job Description: These positions will be part-time, on-call only and will report to the City Manager. Duties include line tie-up and release of the Alaska Marine Highway System Ferry. Hours are variable and dependent upon the scheduled arrival/departure of the ferry.

Applicants must be willing to work as on-call, part-time staff only. Average winter hours per week are 4 hours. Average summer hours per week are 8 hours.

On-call positions are available immediately and will be filled as soon as qualified candidates are selected.

City of Seldovia Small Boat Harbor Improvement Project Priority Selection Survey

The City of Seldovia is seeking assistance from past and present harbor users, community members, and other interested individuals in order to consider and prioritize the harbor repair and improvement options. However, according to Seldovia’s project engineering company, Michael L. Foster & Associates, there is not enough funding to restore the harbor to its original condition, let alone make any major design improvements. The city is asking survey respondents to prioritize the various options according to what they feel to be in the best long term interest of the community.

You may participate in this survey in a variety of ways.

1. Survey forms will be distributed to all city ultility customers in their next mailed billings. You may return your completed survey form:

   1. Right-click on the response form link (Mac users: click and hold mouse button) and choose "Save target as" from the menu. Choose a place to save the file where you can find it again.
   
   
   2. Open the file (it is a plain text file). Fill in the form by typing directly into the form. When you are finished, save the file.
   
   
   3. Choose "Edit|select all" to highlight the entire contents of the file. Then choose "Edit|copy".
   
   
   4. Open your email program and address a blank email message to the city. Make the subject of the email: "Harbor survey." Place your cursor in the body of the email message and choose "Edit|paste" to paste your completed survey in the email message. Hit send.

Ordinance 05-04

An Ordinance of the City of Seldovia Amending Title 2 of the Seldovia Municipal Code

Section 1. Classification. This ordinance is permanent in nature and shall become a part of the Code of the City of Seldovia.

Section 2. Creation. Section 2.04.050, Part C., Council Rotation on Agenda is hereby added to the Seldovia Municipal Code to read as follows:

2.04.050, Part C.
The order of council member's names appearing on the council agenda shall be rotated for each meeting. The order in which the names appear will be the order in which roll call votes are taken and shall establish the order in which council member comments are given in item P of the agenda.

Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective upon on adoption by the Council.
